Baptist Hui 2019 Welcome

nā koutou katoa

Baptists in New Zealand have a deep love for Jesus and an overwhelming confidence in the power of his Gospel to bring renewal to people and places.

To see this achieved it is crucial that our communities of faith are healthy— with leadership that is robust, mission that is effective, disciples that are growing, and resources that are healthy. Hui 2019 will be a time of working together to ensure we have the foundations in place so we can do both local and global mission well.

Our Hui focus is Kia Tupu Whakaritorito—positioning ourselves to thrive. Drawing on the concept of the centre shoot of a flax, this eludes to newness, growth, wellness and thriving! Please join with us as we celebrate together the year that has been, and as we listen for God’s guidance for the future.

It is exciting for us to be hosted by South West Baptist Church. Thank you for the warm welcome and for all the hard work you are doing on our behalf.

- Charles Hewlett

The NZBMS believe that the thriving we seek only comes once we commit ourselves to mission, for the sake of God’s glory. Mission is not the fruit or the evidence of a thriving church, rather it is the seed and structure of a thriving church. We know God has been stirring something new within the NZBMS. During NZBMS Mission Day on Wednesday and throughout Hui, we are eager to engage with you to hear God’s voice. Join us as we celebrate God’s faithfulness, reflect on our challenges and ask some big questions about who we are as a movement engaged in global mission today and into the future. The seeds planted at this Hui will be significant.
