Baptist principles and practices have always valued an even spread of leadership and resources. To help achieve this, and to enable all churches to feel connected to the wider Baptist work, some aspects relating to the task of resourcing Baptist churches throughout New Zealand have been entrusted to the regions through a Regional Network.
The network connects churches with other churches in their vicinity and utilises the experience and expertise of both pastoral and lay people to inspire and train others, and bring about the fulfilment of the visions of individual Baptist churches.
From 2013, each region will appoint a Regional Mission Leader who will be responsible for building a team to support their local churches. This team will include:
BYM coach
Children & Family Ministry coach
Pastoral placement coordinator
Cluster coaching
Baptist Māori ministries
Community ministries
Conflict management
Pastoral care of church pastors
Prayer coordinator.
To facilitate the encouragement and resourcing of churches, the Regional Mission Leaders meet regularly with the National Leader and other Regional Mission Leaders.
