Why are we on facebook, when we have a perfectly good website? Because facebook is an instant way to communicate with those of you who join our network and – best of all – it's not a one-way conversation. The page is a great forum for those who have shared comments, pictures, videos and links from around the country. You're not just communicating with us; you're communicating with each other.

This course is for pastors who have fairly recently come into the Baptist context i.e. they have not studied at Carey Baptist College and they have not been pastoring in a Baptist church for very long. The course is a way of introducing these pastors to the support available to them from the Baptist Union. It also provides a wonderful networking opportunity with other new pastors.
Attendance at the course is a requirement for provisional registration for those new to the Baptist movement. (The other requirement is a Baptist Distinctives reading course. These two requirements can be spread over the two-year period of provisional registration, so one per year.)
As the course is a registration requirement and as travel from the South Island can be expensive, we are offering to cover airfares for South Island attendees. To take advantage of cheap fares we will need to book flights well in advance of the course, so the airfare subsidy offer only extends to 31 March 2012. Please register by that date, and advise us of travel requirements so we can book the flights at the cheaper rates.
The attached PDF has editable fields. Complete your details and print off, then either post the form to us or scan and email.

Learning by Doing – a book by Inspiring Communities. Having been part of an Inspiring Communities workshop group in Auckland, I am really excited about the launch of this book. The book draws on three years of experience from around the country and provides tools, resources, stories and learnings to help support and grow community-led development thinking and action. “Just when we need it most, here is a book guiding people back to the power...

Working Smarter Together..... Many of you will be aware of the proposed plan to decentralise the work of our Baptist Resource Centre to the Regional Associations. This move aims to strengthen the capacity of the regions in order to maximise our effectiveness as a missional movement. It is also precipitated by fiscal restraints – there's less discretionary money in the pockets of our congregations; many churches are challenged by less giving; there...

This is a seminar you cannot afford to miss! The seminar will be run by Baptist Children & Family Ministries and is open to both Church Administrators and Children’s Ministry leaders. Keeping our children, and the leaders who work with them, safe should be a priority for all churches. This seminar will give churches all the information they need to establish a working Safety Management System. The new Safety First manual is hot off...
