Baptist Earthquake Updates

An update from the Strategic Recovery Co-ordinator

KelvynFive weeks into the role – what have I to say?

Here in the mid-south it is much colder but also drier than both Auckland and Waihi. So purchasing a set of thermal socks has been necessary to keep the feet warm. We do miss the log fire, as a heat pump does not bring the same cheer and we’ve simply accepted that the electricity bill will be significantly higher.

Oxford Terrace feels the love

Recovering from the effects of the Canterbury earthquakes is an ongoing task for Oxford Terrace Baptist Church.

Annual Report – Earthquake Response Coordinator

Christchurch rattled again

Christchurch suffered another large earthquake (magnitude 6) yesterday, June 13, and a swarm of aftershocks. These have caused more damage and liquefaction.

William Drury-Turnball, the Baptist Earthquake Response Co-ordinator in Christchurch has asked for prayer for the following:

  • Helpers to clear the liquefaction and to do emergency repair work. Most people are now back at work, so the number of volunteers available is significantly reduced.
  • Strength and insight for the Strengthening Community Coordinators who are dealing with the situation on the ground.
  • That God will guide William into situations that need support.
  • Patience and peace for those who need help.

If you can provide practical assistance, or you can organise a team to go to Christchurch for a weekend, please  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
