New Zealand’s churches have been blessed by migration from all corners of the world that has brought an increasingly multicultural flavour to worship and fellowship. NZ Baptist churches are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission here on our doorstep, not just overseas.  

Currently there are about 40 NZ Baptist churches and congregations made up of migrants. They typically worship in their own language and in a style that reflects their cultural background. These include Samoan, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Russian and Cambodian fellowships. Some church planting is occurring among these groups.

Many other churches however, have multicultural congregations who worship mainly in English. They often provide migrant-friendly classes, groups and activities to support newcomers, such as English conversation classes, international events and simple English Bible studies.

We also offer a Chinese Programme at Carey Baptist College which was established in 1999. This programme offers opportunities for students to study the Certificate of Applied Theology and Diploma of Applied Theology in Chinese (mainly in Mandarin).
