Our community is privileged to have a significant number of people who, often sacrificially, give their time and energy free of charge. Our schools are enriched by volunteer helpers who freely give what they can week by week, year by year. Take a bow! We acknowledge you, and appreciate what you are doing.
About 20 Bible in Schools teachers spent a day together in Thames in June on a sort of refresher course. The Rev Mary Petersen very ably led the seminar, which gave a fresh perspective in what they felt called to do in our schools. Values as currently taught are an important part of the curriculum – acknowledging diversity as found in our different cultures and heritages, integrity, which involves being honest, responsible and accountable and acting ethically, showing respect for themselves and others. The expression of these are guided by dialogue with individual schools. Innovation, enquiry and curiosity are encouraged by thinking critically, creatively and reflectively.
Can we spare a thought for those noble souls who on a regular basis try to make a difference by giving what they can.
