There is something special about Black American gospel music that can’t be captured in any other genre. Whether it is the soaring melodies and beautiful harmonies or the high level of energy, Israel Houghton and the New Breed know how to have a “praise party.”

Decade is promoted as a “best of” album containing 26 songs from the past 10 years. Ranging from classics like “Friend of God” (2003) to the electro-gospel “Love God, Love People” (from Israel’s most recent album) the CD boasts a variety of genres. To keep things even more interesting, the album moves between pristine studio recordings, high energy live recordings, and a new version of “Jesus at the Center,” produced specifically for this album. 

The high quality and variety will appeal to long-standing Israel fans, but it is also a great place to start for newbies.
