Dangerous is KJ52’s eighth album and, once again, he has produced a stunner any rap/hip hop fan will enjoy. KJ52’s real talent is shown in his abililty to push the genre of hip hop to create a sound that even non-hip hop scenesters will also love.
“Dangerous” is a perfect example, opening with a Nickleback-style guitar riff and driven by emotional guitar throughout. “So Far Apart” combines KJ’s hip hop beats with a country-gospel sound, and the track “Brand New Day” wouldn’t sound amiss as the next Owl City single.
Overtly serious lyrics have never been a feature in KJ52’s previous releases and, although this album may initially appear quite serious, you don’t have to wait long before KJ52 slips back into his usual comedy rap antics, with “Do the Bill Cosby.”
The biggest concern for any artist who has been around for as long as KJ52 is releasing something that is stale or out of date – but those are words you can’t use when listening to Dangerous.
