Waikato/Central Districts – February 2012

Hamilton South
Senior Pastor Mike Walker
The Hamilton South Baptist Church Cookbook has been printed. All funds are going to the Cornelius family in Thailand. To date more than $850 has been raised through this venture. From January 14-27 a team of men will have travelled to Thailand, to assist with Cornelius family. This is the fourth team to go. On February 19, the church plans to welcome Shannan Mackie as our new Youth Pastor, and his wife, Holly.

New Plymouth West
It has been an interesting year. West is now looking for a new minister since our pastor Thalia Kehoe Rowden is on maternity leave while she and Matt await the arrival of their first baby. We have been enjoying different pastors in the meantime, and will have a student from Carey Baptist College with us over the summer. Our Trust has employed a family mentor, Dee Weir, who is working in our community as we continue to serve the folk around us.

Palmerston North Central
A garage sale raised more than $2000 for the Leprosy Mission. After lengthy fundraising we now have installed a digitized pipe organ. After the Youth Alpha programme, the youth held a successful Youth Alpha Camp. A church review raised a lot of discussion, and a subsequent forum to discuss recommendations from the review. There was a women’s breakfast and a men’s evening to Ohakea to inspect a Spitfire.
