We continue in the aftermath of the earthquakes, each affected to a greater or lesser degree. We are mindful of the needs of those around us and help in whatever ways we can. Our second Alpha course for the year has concluded and plans are underway for next year. A call has been sent to a young couple in Cambodia to come pastor the Cambodian Fellowship. Following their September camp, our youth took two Sunday morning services. Friendship Friday lunch continues monthly as a community outreach. Freedom Trust celebrated 20 years of community ministries.

Our AGM in October was well attended. Pam Sparks has a home group for ESOL folk and they are doing an Alpha course. Vanuatu workers for the orchards are returning and we look forward to sharing with them. During the winter Derek Pyle led a team of six men to Pana Island, Vanuatu. Plans to do plumbing/spouting work were upset because materials didn’t arrive but the people asked our men to build a “white man’s toilet” – so they were pleased with what was achieved. Jim Carty is now home recovering from bypass surgery. RWC was celebrated during rest home visits with team dressed in black. A recent morning service was led by the youth and we were amazed by their musical talent and enthusiasm.

Many new people are coming to the Sunday morning services. Visiting speaker Rev. Duncan Graham from Elijah Ministries came to small group leaders’ meetings. Girls’ Brigade broke up leading into end of year functions: Master Chef Bake-Off held for the ladies; annual meeting; mens’ breakfast; Christmas concert. Great teaching as we continue through the Gospel of Luke. Bruce and Pauline attended the Gathering in Christchurch.
