Junk mail in the Baptist

Horrors. When I picked up my copy of the NZ Baptist on Sunday morning, it was loaded up with junk mail! Some election information, a brochure from a tertiary institution and some advertising for a Christian bookshop and Parachute.

I have a “no junk mail” sign on my letterbox, because I object to the waste of resources this kind of advertising generates. I also like to reduce my family’s exposure to advertising material at home.

I’d rather not have this material inserted into takeaways from church please, and would also like to challenge your readers to reject junk mail at their place too.

Thanks and keep up the good work with your interesting, readable stories!

The editor replies: The inserts, along with the advertising printed on these pages, pay for the printing of the NZ Baptist – keeping it economically sustainable. They are recyclable, which is more than can be said for our computers and televisions. However, if you don’t like all that paper you can read the NZ Baptist online at www.baptist.org.nz.
