Haste The Day – Haste the Day vs Haste the Day

hastethedayThe real selling point of this live DVD and CD collection is that it is quite possibly the final release by Haste The Day, after the band called it quits in 2010. The concert itself actually doubled as the release party for the group’s last (and final) studio album, Attack Of The Wolf King. Across the span of the hour and 20 minute show, past band members make appearances, giving the whole occasion a very free-wheeling and celebratory vibe.

Musically, Haste The Day are very much on point here, playing with a precision that mimics their studio output. The sound mix is good throughout.

The glaringly obvious downside to this whole thing is the video quality. This isn’t a big show to begin with (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing), but the picture is almost YouTube bootleg quality (which most definitely is a bad thing). The lighting also stays very dark throughout, which only adds to the budget feeling.

In the end, though, a package like this was always going to be very specifically for fans who want something to remember this fantastic metal band by, and by those standards it’s more than worthy.
