Are you the missing link?
Over the last five years, Love Your Neighbour (LYN) network has been tracking the stories of churches engaging in their communities. They have found many churches that were once active in their communities lose steam.
Those churches that have continued to thrive generally have someone who is passionate about connecting church and community. LYN has dubbed that ‘someone’ as the ‘Community Link’, and have recently launched a two-year training programme to strengthen those who are, or want to be, their church’s Community Link.
The course includes six formal training days and a weekend conference, plus reading and course work that integrates their learning with ministry. Every candidate will also be assigned a mentor. Ongoing appraisal of the Community Link’s progress and ministry will be conducted by CViC in conjunction with their church leadership.
The first round of training will be offered inAuckland , but is open to all. An Open Day for those interested in doing the training will be held on 19 November 2011, 2pm - 5pm, at Eden Community Church, Auckland.
