Your guide to going digital

How ‘going digital’ could affect vulnerable people
New Zealand will progressively switch to digital television by the end of 2013. Vulnerable people (e.g. people with low literacy levels or speakers of other languages) and people on low incomes could be ‘pressured’ into purchasing a new TV set unnecessarily or rushing to purchase a set-top box or new aerial well before the change-over.

How you can help
The Ministry for Culture and Heritage is handling the ‘Going Digital’ campaign. It has a team of advisors available to speak to community groups about the changes. If you would like to arrange a talk in your community, see www.goingdigital.co.nz/meet-the-team.

In addition, we have 1500 pamphlets called ‘Your Guide to Going Digital’. These are intended for community ministries to hand out to people they are working with in the community.

To order brochures

The pamphlets are only in English. If you require another language you can download the appropriate pamphlet from the website www.goingdigital.co.nz (look under Questions/Resources).
