If you’ve seen Manafest at a recent Parachute Festival, then you’ll know that he’s basically the Canadian version of Rapture Ruckus (at least before Rapture Ruckus morphed into the Christian Dane Rumble). He makes rap-rock that’s heavy on the rap. From time to time Manafest’s style drifts very close to Thousand Foot Krutch territory, which makes sense since it was Trevor McNevan who discovered him.
This live CD/DVD collects songs from throughout Manafest’s 10-year career, all played in a smaller club venue. The energy is high and the production decent. But, as always with these live packages, it’s a tough sell for anyone who isn’t already a fan. The concert clocks in at a scant 12 songs, and when it comes to bonus features there are only three music videos and an awkward 5-minute interview at a Japanese radio station.
Unfortunately, this continues a recent trend with this kind of live package that just doesn’t represent very good value for money. If you’re a fan, this might be worth checking out. If not, there’s really no reason to shell out.
