This role provides a significant challenge as the organisation consolidates its leading position as a provider of excellent care for the aged. The potential to leverage off past success and a current major capital works programme needs to be realised.

We are looking for an innovative and proactive individual with proven leadership and strategic thinking skills. You will need to be able to articulate and advocate a compelling vision of the future and what it will take to get there. This will involve developing a series of strategic options for Board consideration, drawing on opportunities to be captured and offering options that challenge conventional thinking. It also involves acting as a champion of change so that others understand, support and commit to change alternatives.

You will lead a team of strong, talented and committed senior managers and will play an active role in attracting, developing and retaining our people to ensure we have the right people with the right skills and motivation to meet our clientsí needs. Reporting to the Board, you will ensure that all recommendations to the Board are aligned and monitored against agreed policies and strategies. You will be responsible for annual business plans and budgets with supporting analysis and rationale and will be acutely aware of the need to build sustainability into all business models.

Because of the very unique nature of this organisation, the ability to build enduring relationships with national, regional and local partners in the health sector is crucial, as is the need for a close and transparent relationship with the Baptist Union of NZ. Key also is maintaining public confidence in and awareness of our role in the community.

You may come from a health background but that is not essential. Experience in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors would be helpful. You will have well- honed leadership skills and robust business acumen.You will need to demonstrate determination to succeed and a tenacity to overcome challenges, barriers and persistent work demands. You will need to display commitment to Howick Baptist Healthcareís Christian values.
