‘Holy metal’ coverup

We would like to respond to the March NZ Baptist magazine regarding the article you had about Parachute 2011, as well as your choice of cover picture.

It is very sad to see that we as Christians have fallen asleep under the cover of love. We have no problem with anybody who has been tattooed before they became a Christian but to continue doing it is going against God’s Holy Word.

When we have been justified by faith there has to be sign of sanctification. If that is not present then there has never been any justification. Why are we as Christians trying hard to copy the world with “holy metal” – just a cover up for heavy metal.

To have on our T-shirts printed that Jesus is our homeboy is bringing a holy God down to our level and I do not read of such things in the book of Revelations. When John saw God in his full glory he fell down flat on his face.

Why do we let out young people believe that God is just a homeboy when John has a totally different message?

It seems to me that Parachute is a trying to mix oil and water together and as we know that will never work. As Christians we are to be set apart from the world but it seems to us that the world is reaching right into the Church.

We as Christians are told not to judge and that we must just accept people how they are. Is this really scripture or is it just a watered down gospel that is being taught in the Church today? If we do not repent and humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways then we will experience the wrath of God. Let us build each other up in God’s holy Word and be ready when he comes to fetch his chosen bride.
