Geoff Follas
This year Geoff is continuing with our studies of the book of John. These are recorded to CD and are available to our church family, who pass them on to family members and elderly folk who gather together to listen to God’s word. These CDs are also being given to folk outside the church. Congratulations go to Jared Wigmore on graduating with First Class Honours with a Bachelor of Computer Studies and to Paulie Griffith, who was awarded 2nd place in the 2010 I.H.C. Telecom Arts Awards. A baptismal service was held on December 12, when Felicity Bray and Maurice Howe witnessed for the Lord. Four potluck meals were held at different homes during January.
Morrinsville
Stage one of the building project, including the new 100 square metre lounge, kitchen, and offices, has been completed on time and within budget. Credit must go to the team of volunteer workers and the building committee, plus helpful architects and a very efficient main contractor. The first major use of the lounge is an Alpha course that started February 9. This is in keeping with the missional vision of the new build. Alpha will provide the church with an opportunity to renew foundational beliefs and faith and to refocus outward towards those who do not yet know Jesus. The Away Weekend is at Ngaruawhia Christian camp from March 11 to 13 as part of the church’s bi-annual family camp, and Alpha culminates the week before Easter.

We finished 2010 with our church organising distribution of the Hauraki Christmas appeal presents. We also enjoyed a Christmas dinner. Leading up to Christmas we had advent meditations and messages on the virgin birth and the divinity of Christ. We enjoyed a family time of worship at the park on Boxing Day. We have had a great start to 2011. We welcomed Bob Turlington as our Family Ministries Team Leader, his wife Debbie and their five children. Bob is an evangelist and we look forward to a greater focus on outreach. We are again enjoying Sunday evening barbecues. This a great time of fellowship and an opportunity to bring unsaved friends and family to meet our church family. During January we have been looking at John Ortberg’s If You Want to Walk on Water You Have to Get Out of the Boat. Home groups and other small groups started up again at the beginning of February.
