It was great to read Duncan Pardon’s editorial in the December issue about those who tend to be forgotten. It reminds me that when things get a little hot or we get a little cold, to be faithful to what God has called us to do and not to envy great men of God; they probably became great because of their faithfulness to what God had called them to do.
On another note, it is heartening that some must have read my last letter about the lack of biblical teaching in the NZ Baptist, because there has been an increase of use of biblical texts in this issue. There is still no expository preaching section or rigorous debate about theological issues. Perhaps I could start one.
Could anyone tell me if 1 Timothy 2:11-15 has been superseded or is there no man that can fill the position of president of the New Zealand Baptist Union? Truly we are victims of people pleasing and our culture and worship at the altar of humanism, just as the children of Israel took their idols with them to the promised land (Acts 7: 37-43 and Amos 5:25-27).
