Home is a DVD and CD package that contains both a live show and a decent-length documentary focusing on August Burns Red. It’s a great package and also good value. Fans of the group should definitely pick it up. The concert itself (recorded in a church hall in their rural hometown) is well-filmed and – at 15 songs – of a decent length.
The documentary, meanwhile, is all you could ask for in this sort of package. It focuses on the group’s life on tour and it features fan tributes and lots of interviews. If you’re not already a fan, the recommendation is just as easy: Don’t pick this up. This would be a good band to check out if you are into the kind of metal that sports Cookie Monster vocals and precise, mind-bending time-signatures and musicianship, but even then you’d be better served by picking up one of August Burns Red’s studio albums first (such as Constellations), than you would be by starting with a live album.
Three and a half stars out of five.
