A promising start to Thursday morning Alpha. Looking forward to Marjory Gibson’s visit following on from a‘successful E100 challenge. Fathers’ Day celebrated with a church breakfast followed by sharing from ages 7-80(ish) about what individuals have learned from their fathers. The 2010 Church concert featured some new performers and talent – Cavy’s got talent!

 

South Dunedin
Pastor Bruce Geddes
General church meeting held. Hosted a combined meeting for Mark and Viv, overseas workers in Thailand. Mens’ breakfast well attended. Nine new members welcomed on Fathers’ Day. Youthies have adopted a new name, “South Siders.” Shirley Cole and Pauline Geddes gave reports of their trip to Christchurch for the Power of Teams conference. Our prayers are with Avril Ralston in the passing of her mother soon after her father.

Invercargill Central
Youth Pastor David McKenzie has been on study leave in Australia. The church has appreciated a six week prayer and spiritual growth emphasis called Growing Deep. Our thanks to Hillsborough Baptist for the use of these resources. Sara Loo, 18, contacted meningococcal septicaemia in May and died in July. We travelled with the Loo family through their journey which included a celebration funeral service with more than 600 people.
