Changes

Life is full of changes and apparently, a change is as good as a break. If that is true we should all be feeling rested and relaxed after the Budget announcements…hmmm not sure I’m feeling like I had a break at all!! In fact this year has been full of changes for me, so I should be feeling super ‘chilled’.

Let’s see…we have moved into a rental house IN TOWN, while we build a house (which is NOT relaxing); I turned 40 (major decade change); I resigned as Licensee and Trustee of our Childcare Centre (so waiting patiently for God to fill me in on my next step). As a result it has been an interesting first half of the year!! Thank goodness, our God doesn’t change, but is always there to help us through change.

The funding changes have been quite a disappointment for many Centres. In fact, I doubt that any Centre has not been negatively affected. Whether you were on 80%-99% or 100% you will face a drop in funding, and if you were on 50%-79% for your July payment then you are unable to access the 80%-99% for your November payment. This is where my Centre is sitting. I can’t understand the Minister of Education’s reasoning. We have always been paid based on the actual staff we have, but for some reason we cannot claim for the staff we are paying, but on what we did have. Therefore, it will really influence our budget and certainly negatively affect pay rises in February!!!
