We have negotiated with our tenant to take over part of the childcare centre the church has been leasing out. This will become a large sports arena to be opened by Mayor Len Brown at Blokes Church on September 5. Several hundred people attended a Sunday afternoon “Praise Hymn” concert, a celebration of hymns featuring the Salvation Army Auckland City Band.
We had 80 guys turn out for a Manukau Men’s Breakfast where Bob McCoskrie from Family Life was our guest speaker. Our latest Alpha Course was early August, as well as a budgeting course, a relationship course and a Caleb Course. We will be hosting the missions conference The Call in early September – NZ’s largest mission conference this year.

In April Murray Jenkins accepted our call to be Executive Pastor and in early August he and his family joined us. Glen Cleary, Children’s Pastor, attended “Orange”, a Conference in the USA. Brother Aung from Myanmar was a welcome guest to our pulpit and home groups. Praise God for the decision to proceed raising finance for “The Crossing,” which entails alterations to give us more facilities. We will still meet in the school on Sundays. Our aim is to reach into the district with programs such as after school activities. A used clothing shop has opened at the church. A group led by Jess Angove has been visiting Bethany Hospital, a home for single girls with babies, even arranging a baby shower.
