DELIRIOUS – Farewell Show: Live In London

deliriousOften pigeonholed as the “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” band, Delirious were actually often original, and creative. Mezzamorphis remains one of the most daring Christian albums ever. Even when they settled into their latter-career period of playing to their strengths, Delirious were still responsible for some of the best pop-rock songs of the last decade, Christian or otherwise.

This CD and DVD package captures the group’s final show, at London’s prestigious Hammersmith Apollo. And from the blissful “Rain Down” to the absolutely epic performance of “Investigate,” they hit all the right notes.

Singer Martin Smith struggling through tears to sing the final song, “My Soul Sings,” is a special moment.

Delirious didn’t make flawless music (I often found their lyrics a little bit hackneyed), but they were musically inventive and they excelled in a live setting, in a similar fashion to U2. This, their final show, is as emotionally engaging and sonically compelling a concert as you are ever likely to see.
