Pastors Roly Scott and Martin Baldwin
We finished Self Denial with the congregation sharing how our free tomatoes have provided relationship-building opportunities. Self Denial exceeded expectations.

The month culminated with a shared meal and lemon meringue pie contest (won by resident cook Shona Murray). The E100 Bible Challenge continues. We have a new heating system in place so hope to avoid the power failures experienced in the last three years. Roly graduated with his Master of Ministry (with Distinction).

Oamaru
Pastor Neil Johnston
Greetings from Oamaru. Three of our members are currently overseas. Robyn Couper has returned to Cap Hatien with a team of doctors and physiotherapists with Project Hearts and Hands for Haiti. They are working with the local authorities to help these needy people under difficult circumstances. It is hot, dry and dusty; there have been knifings, stoning and shootings; one of the Haitian doctors was shot and is now paralyzed from the waist down. It is not safe to go out after dark. The hospital experiences power cuts, ran out of oxygen, relatives help to look after patients, there is no privacy and they need to re-sterilise their equipment. Lindsay and Delaine Walker are on a mission to take Bibles to Bogota. Their journey is taking them to many countries and they encounter all sorts of people. We pray that God will protect them and bless them as they serve him in these places. We have begun night services twice a month. They are well attended and people are enjoying an opportunity to share and minister to one another in small groups.

Pastor Bruce Geddes
Disability Week was celebrated with a service in Wakari Union Church conducted by Allisdair Morrison. Many CFFD members and helpers attended. Our thoughts and prayers are with Avril Ralston in the passing of her dad. Over two Sundays, Allisdair Morrison presented a vivid outline of the purpose of Prayer and Self Denial. Kids’ church auctioned some of their artwork to add to the church giving. Rainbow Pre-School is fundraising for new equipment. A scrumptious lunch was prepared and served by our men as a fundraiser for PromiseKeepers – a treat for the ladies.
