Have we forgotten World War II?

More than 6 million people, nearly double the population of New Zealand, were slaughtered in the gas chambers of Auschwitz and other death camps in Germany. The citizens of Israel were targeted by Hitler for extermination.

The Hamas terrorists (linked with Al Qaeda) now ruling Palestine have the same proclaimed objective to annihilate Israel. The records show that, since gaining control of Palestine, Hamas has launched hundreds of suicide bombers and thousands of missiles at Israel. In response to these hostilities Israel organized a blockade to stop the bombs, rockets and weapons of war being carried to the Hamas guerrillas on the ships.

Israel’s enemies are extremely clever – seeking international support by attempting to run the blockade followed by well-organised, negative media reports worldwide, often with faked pictures, to help their cause.

Let’s not be too hasty to condemn Israel. As Kiwis we need to be supportive of this nation under siege. As Christians we must oppose those who attack Israel and “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:2). Israelis are still included in God’s plan for the salvation of the world.
