I appreciated Rhett Snell’s willingness to be critical of some of the worship music albums he reviewed in the last NZ Baptist. He said, “Perhaps worship music should be beyond criticism, but it remains a mystery to me that music made to aid in the worship of a creative God should itself be so lacking in creativity.” Worship music, like worship, should not be beyond criticism. It is precisely because neither are critiqued or questioned often enough at the level of style, content or technique that they so often are bland and lacking in creativity. Thanks Rhett.
