Hastings

One third of the year gone and Hastings church is buzzing. Some are studying a distance course with Moore College. We are contributing to the support of Peter and Lynley, tranzsend workers, now in Thailand. There has been a Children & Church forum exploring the relationship between Christian training in the home and the role of the church through Sunday morning services, Sunday school and youth group. We have bought a new manse which will give the Pastor and his family more room and make their hospitality more convenient. In February a group took their annual turn at the hospital, transporting patients to the chapel services. We enjoyed and benefited from a series of sermons on ‘idols.’ Easter was once again a time for reflection and rejoicing, with a combined service with two other churches on Good Friday morning giving us a time of worship and fellowship together. The local children were also catered for with an Easter egg hunt on Easter Saturday. For some this is the only opportunity to hear the real Easter story.
