Evolution debate

I have read with interest and concern the debate on creation and evolution. There is a vast amount of evidence around the earth, fossils, geology and any other number of areas. How this is interpreted depends on one’s belief system.

Those who believe in evolution or theistic evolution interpret the evidence one way. Those who believe that the Bible is historical  and that the biblical records are accurate interpret it differently.

Evolution is taught in schools and spoken of frequently over the radio, and in many places, such as the United States, where creation can’t be taught in public schools, so that children do not have the opportunity to examine the evidence dispassionately. This goes along with stopping prayers in schools, and the embargo on religious instruction, and many other ways that atheists have used.

If the evidence is looked at carefully, it becomes obvious that evolution is not possible from a chemical, physical and statistical point of view. The more we look at the minute cell structure, the more impossible evolution is seen to be. There are multiple examples of ‘irreducible complexity’ that render belief in evolution untenable, if not ridiculous.

And “science” is not all that reliable in many ways. It is not many years since the appendix in the abdomen, the pineal gland in the brain, and the thymus in the chest were taught in medical schools to be “vestigial organs.” We now know more of their function, and in the case of the thymus we would not survive childhood without it.

Perhaps readers could look up “phlogiston” and see the problems that arose as the “science” of the day vigorously defended that untenable theory. Many scientists have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, and creation threatens this. I myself was taught much in medical school 50 years ago, which has been shown since to be untrue as medical knowledge has advanced.

There are many scientists of high repute and considerable standing who follow the biblical account and produce evidence which supports creation. For most scientists evolution is irrelevant to their work, and they do not bother themselves with the evidence for biblical creation – they just go along with evolution and get on with their job.

Anyone who wants to examine the evidence for biblical creation can look up on the web www.creation.com, or contact Creation Ministries International.
