Wellington/Top of the South - April

Blenheim

Pastors Aaron Salisbury, Paul Fletcher, Mike Mitchell

We’re marching into April with a busy church calendar. Blokes had successful three-day Fire Tour over the Molesworth high country station area. Women of Influence Conference inspired nearly 600 attendees, and last-minute changes to speaker availability indicated God’s foresight and foreknowledge. Advertising included full page double spread, and articles on team members in weekly papers. Women’s Ministries provides the Women’s Refuge with care packages. Thanks to 24/7 in the Colleges, 100 kids from our church and the colleges expect to attend Easter Camp near Christchurch. At church quarterly lunch and meeting, business included welcoming 19 new members and progress report on new building. Pastor Aaron leads us towards Easter with series on Christ the Head from Colossians.

Rimutaka

Pastor Murray Gordon

Once again we were treated to an inspiring pre-Christmas service taken solely by our children and young people. The theme was The Greatest Gift of All – Jesus. 2010 saw us farewelling our longest-serving youth leader, Eric Mailau. Eric is now studying at Carey to be a youth Pastor. We miss him greatly! Our remaining three leaders are busy organising fundraising events for Easter Camp with carwashes and a Hire-a-Youth day. A parents’ night allowed for a sharing of the leaders’ vision for the youth ministry. Three of our members have completed the Agape Budgeting Service course and are now serving the community as volunteer budget advisors. The AGM revealed the great level of support for our current leadership. A photo display reminded us of the year’s happenings. Playgroup is underway with close to 30 children and their caregivers attending. Our men are beginning a six-week course entitled Winning at Home and at Work.
