It was driving me crazy to start with, as everything I talked to her about needed to be seen through several different lenses or perspectives. Once I got over myself, I started to see how valuable this was. So now we have a continuous joke regarding glasses, and lenses.
It is amazing how it can change your decision or idea when you start to view them through the lenses that children, parents and staff wear. It really does challenge you, and helps you to understand the reactions and comments that come from these different groups of people.
I even changed my mind on a few decisions!! Even though you may have to stick by your point of view or management decision, at least you have considered others and can better pre-empt their reactions.
So, if you wear ‘rose-tinted’ glasses you might need to swap them for some other shades and see what you can see!
