Bethlehem Baptist begins eighth Easter Journey

easter2“Indescribable” is the word Michaela Vernall, the Director of The Easter Journey at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Tauranga, uses of her 250 volunteers, some of whom started planning The Easter Journey 2010 over a year ago.

For those who have never experienced it, The Easter Journey is a multi-media, interactive, walk-through display, telling the Easter Story in a new, modern and thought-provoking way.

This year the team has come up with more innovative ideas and there is not an Easter Bunny or a chocolate egg among them. The Easter Journey, now in its eighth year, has had time to build upon the experiences of the past.

It is for all the family, although one of the scenes is particularly graphic so parental supervision and discretion for younger or more sensitive viewers is advised. Find yourself transported back two thousand years to the town of Bethlehem, Judea and the Sea of Galilee, and be challenged to think outside of yourself.

Village scenes, actors, painted murals, masses of realistic backdrops, props and kiwiana are all part of the wonder as you pass through each scene. Creative art and water effects have been added to The Easter Journey this year, and more than 50 scenes describing the journey that Jesus made to the cross and beyond .

The Easter Journey runs April 1- 5 at Bethlehem Baptist Church  – Thursday 4-9 pm, Friday to Sunday 9am – 9pm, and Easter Monday 8.30am – 12.30pm (last Entry 45 mins before close). Entry by gold coin donation.
