‘Side by Side Mentoring’ is a new initiative designed to connect the church community to young parents. It was established by the Catholic Archdiocese and the Anglican Diocese of Wellington, with input from other Christian denominations.

Side By Side mentors make contact with young families, to affirm them in their role as parents, and to listen to whatever parents may need to talk about regarding the parenting journey. The vision is that churches in each community are automatically and naturally seen by parents/families as a place to turn to for everyday family support and advice.  

Training for mentors will be held in Wellington 28 – 29 March 2012. It is open to anyone from around New Zealand. The cost is $150, which includes a manual.

Lyn Campbell has worked with Side-by-Side in their training of mentors and commends the training as “excellent”.
