Way to Go: Living in a Broken World

waytogoExperienced author George Bryant, in his latest book Way to Go, takes his readers on a journey through the key sayings of Jesus Christ, “the world’s greatest teacher.”

Bryant says his motivation for writing this book was his disillusionment with so-called mature Christians not practising what they had been taught when the going gets tough in their lives.

Way to Go provides a refreshing explanation of the words of Jesus based on chapters four and five of Matthew’s gospel – usually called the Sermon on the Mount.

The book contains 16 small chapters. In the first five chapters, Bryant establishes that Jesus has a message worth listening to, that he is the One who shows us the way to go as we live in this broken world.

In chapters six to 13, Bryant succinctly explains the principles of how we should live under topics such as loving each other and our enemies, forgiving and making peace, giving generously, being careful what we say, not getting angry, being hypocritical or having affairs. He illustrates his points using contemporary and relevant stories.

In the last three chapters, Bryant gently draws his readers to Jesus.

Throughout the book, Bryant encourages and challenges his readers to live authentically as Christ followers in a way they may have not considered before.

The layout is attractive and easy to read and the chapter titles are clear and self explanatory. A list of references and a bibliography are included.

The title irritates me for some reason, however don’t dismiss this book; it is well worth reading and should benefit people who are both young and old in the faith.
