Life in Christchurch continues to be two steps forward and one step backas they experience aftershocks. People are fragile and with the uncertainty for many about the future of their homes.

Whilst autumn has just begun it feels more like winter. So the current focus is on looking after the elderly and the following projects are underway:

1. Second-hand/surplus gas heaters. Negotiations are underway with Kiwi Rail and Cubic Shipping for comparable freight rates. They are looking at freighting these before the end of May and presently looking for churches in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin who will partner with Christchurch and collecting and packing points ready for shipment.
2. Snuggle sack – Christchurch churches are placing an order with the Warehouse, which is offering heavy discounts. Info will be fed to Baptist churches on how you can be involved.
3. Associate/assistant pastors are being released from their churches and coming alongside pastors in Christchurch.

Life will change for a number people living on the east side of Christchurch. The geo-mapping will be completed by the end of May and now that CERA (Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority) is beginning to function those most affected will be informed of the future of their property. 

Please pray that the Christchurch family of Baptist churches will be able to continue to serve their communities and find strength to minister the love of Jesus with the gifting God has given each of them.
